"We are so happy that we found this amazing new family owned restaurant, the atmosphere is very nice. The restaurant is extremely clean and the food speaks for itself very well flavoured and good portions! This has to be one of the best restaurants in RVA! And it’s halal! They give complimentary soup and tea!"

"First time there and let me tell you.... it was fantastic! I got the Shami kebab and it was perfectly cooked. You could tell how much they care about their customers by the taste of the food and how good it is. The portion is more than enough to even have lunch tomorrow. I would definitely come back here again. Thank you for good and fresh food with the best afgani bread I've ever tried."

"5/5 Stars I recently had the pleasure of dining at Dunya Kabob Restaurant, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience! The lamb kabab was absolutely delicious, and the service was top-notch. The cashier and server were incredibly kind and welcoming, making us feel right at home. The restaurant was spotless, and the ambiance was cozy. The prices were very reasonable, especially considering the generous portions and excellent quality of the food. One of the highlights was the complimentary soup they served to warm us up - what a lovely touch! The lamb kebabs were served with fresh, warm bread and a side of eggplant, which paired perfectly. When we asked for chickpeas, the staff kindly offered us spinach as well, showing their willingness to accommodate our requests. Overall, Dunya Kabob Restaurant deserves 5 stars for its outstanding food, service, and atmosphere. We'll definitely be back"

"This place is the definition of a hole in the wall with fantastic food! We had boolawnee, mantu, and aushak for appetizers and they were all fantastic. Never had spicy boowlanee before, but my friend asked if they could and it was fantastic paired with the yogurt dipping sauce. The mains we had were the deluxe kabob and quabili palau with sides of chickpeas, eggplant, and Afghan bread of course. All were excellent! Service was friendly and accommodating as well! It’s a small no frills place with disposable plates and cutlery, but certainly worth a visit!"

"An absolute gem in the RVA area! One of the best Afghan and in general food I’ve had in a while. The entire experience from the way we were greeted to the taste and deliciousness of the food was fantastic. The meat was tender and the seasoning was perfectly balanced. They gave complimentary soup while we waited for our food which came out really quick. The bread is fresh made and had the perfect crunch at the sides and softness in the center. We got the mantu side which was flavorful, highly recommend. The deluxe combo is the way to go. The lamb kabobs were tender and the ground beef skewers were also delightful. What tied it all together and elevated the experience was the owners and staff’s commitment and passion for serving delicious Afghan food! This is our new favorite spot and the amount of food you get for your money is insane! Highly recommend you try them and I’m sure you will also be hooked on their delicious food and positive vibes. Can’t wait to get hungry again so I can eat from here again. 10/10!"

"Absolutely delicious food! And super quick service. Authentic Afghan flavors. We tried lamb, beef and chicken kabob & chaplee kabob patties. All the meats were very tender and flavorful. Also generous proportions! Rice was fantastic."

"One of the friendliest and most hospitable people working at this place. It’s hard to be judgmental about the decorum and atmosphere when the food is amazing and the people are so welcoming. With that said, the atmosphere is counter service with very basic seating. But we come for food, right?! And let me tell you, if you have not tried this place before, this is a must. They serve complimentary chicken soup with your meal which was so tasty and soul warming. We got an order of Mantu, which hosted an abundance of flavor. They fell apart as we ate them but the flavors were still there. I got the Shabi plate which to me is basically a deconstructed gyro but with more food. The meat was flavorful but slightly on the dry side. Which did not bother me because they provided two sauces that were delicious. The eggplant was very good, with what I believe were serano peppers. The big star or my plate was the freshly made bread. I love bread and theirs was so toasty and chewy with some sesame seeds. Yum! Everyone loved their food and we look forward to visiting again soon!"

"My family and I LOVE Afghan food and we’ve been eyeing this place since it opened. We tried it for the first time today and we were not disappointed. We ordered our food on the go and the lady at the front desk was super nice and welcoming. Even though we were already familiar with the cuisine, she took the time to explain to us what the best sellers were and her recommendations, which was very informative. What took us by surprise was we were given complimentary soup while waiting for our to-go order. I’m not sure if that’s something they do for first timers or for those who order to-go while inside, but it was very nice of them to do that. The soup itself was very good, like a chicken soup with a sour element and lots of black pepper, which I thought was tasty. We ordered the chicken shwarma (recommended), and also picked the shami kabob, lamb kabob, and sombosa potatoes. All of it was DELICIOUS. And the portions are definitely worth every penny. The chicken, shami, and lamb were tender and flavorful. The brown and white rice were fluffy and not dry. The bread, which is baked to order, is steamy and super soft. The eggplant and chickpea side dishes were absolutely delectable. The sombosa potatoes were crispy and airy, super yummy. And the condiments (yogurt and green sauces) just add another layer of flavor to everything. I definitely recommend this place to anyone who loves Afghan food, and Middle Eastern food in general."
